From 1970 to 1973 he taught Political Science at Haifa University. In the 1973 Yom Kippur War he was in the paratrooper battalion that crossed the Suez Canal and established the Israeli bridgehead in Egyptian territory. In the Lebanon War of 1982, he reached Beirut with a paratrooper unit.
