A real Renaissance man, Dr.
Michael Bar-Zohar is a writer, legislator, soldier, speaker and globe-trotting
reporter.
The
author of more than 30 books of fiction and non-fiction, Bar-Zohar was a Member
of the Knesset [The Israeli Parliament], an adviser to General Moshe Dayan, and
an Israeli envoy to the Council of Europe.
As a
writer, he followed the tracks of Nazi criminals in South America, exposed the
notorious “L’Oreal “ Affair in France, interviewed headhunters in New Guinea
and wrote about “Papillon”’s prisons in French Guyana and Devil’s Island. He
published exclusive information about the Soviet, American and Israeli Secret
Services, revealed ” the most extraordinary spy story of World War Two” and described the hunt for the
terrorists who massacred the Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics.
As a
paratrooper he fought in four wars, yet staunchly supported the peace
initiatives in the Middle East. A friend of Yitzhak Rabin and Ariel Sharon, he
is the official biographer of David Ben-Gurion and Shimon Peres. His books were
translated into 18 languages, and his many awards include the French Academy
award, the Ben-Gurion Prize and the Sokolov Prize (the Israeli Pulitzer). One of
his novels, Enigma, was made into a star-studded Hollywood movie. He was
knighted by France as Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
His
academic career includes teaching at Haifa University and at Emory University
in Atlanta. Today he is one of the most popular Israeli speakers in the US and
Europe and is frequently interviewed by the major television networks.
